In Super Mario series Super Mario Sunshine Piantas appear in more areas than the Nokis, and several of the Piantas populate Delfino Plaza and Pianta Village. Piantas are the main inhabitants of Isle Delfino, along with Nokis. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Piantas also get angry if jumped on.

Many male Piantas are shirtless, but some wear a conventional attire such as a shirt, a vest, or a jacket. Both male and female Piantas wear grass skirts, though females will also wear sundresses or bikini tops. Piantas have large, mitten-like hands, and their feet are often bare with two pudgy toes. The most notable feature of a Pianta is a tiny palm tree growing from the top of its head, providing them with shade from the hot sun. Piantas are large humanoid creatures with stout bodies, bulbous noses, and brightly-colored skin, appearing in either pink, green, brown, purple, red, orange, yellow, or blue.
